Casing joints can suffer from thread damage due to poor storage and transportation conditions (scratches, lack of thread protectors), requiring the repair of leaking couplings.
Running In Hole may also damage casing couplings because of insufficient joint or bending strength. Excess tensile loads, severe doglegs and bending moments, or high internal operating pressures. They can lead to leaks from the couplings, usually the first step before parting.

With the use of the most advanced techniques for controlling the plastic deformation of the expandable steel. As well as a 2-meter long sealing element at each end, it is possible to establish a tight seal in the damaged casing. This ensures that no leakage or other issues will occur, thus protecting the well from any damage.
A precise adjustment is made to the patch’s length to cover the impairment. For example, with a 10-meter corroded casing joint, a minimum 14-meter patch is mandatory with 2 meters of sealing element on both sides of the eroded joint. In order to provide the good substantial seal it is important that the sealing elements are in a good casing section while expanding.
